Laura Thompson

When I shared my vision of a digital TV platform for African Americans, many suggested starting a YouTube channel. They didn’t see its significance. I envisioned this in 1995 while working for an Internet company. Driven by the lack of positive stories and images of African Americans, I dreamt of a network that gave us a voice. Instead of complaining, I built TAAN TV to control content and empower African Americans to tell their own stories. Today, TAAN TV is a leading provider of original content, reshaping how African Americans see themselves and how others perceive us.
